Hunter
In my neighborhood, there is a stray cat infamous for breaking into houses and eating leftovers. Naughty as he may seem to be, the boy is in fact very friendly to humans: he never scratches anyone who tries approaching him. Yet, he will quickly transform into a savage hunter whenever he senses a rat nearby. In this painting, I captured a split second when he suddenly felt his prey while napping (See! He is a real hunter!). I used a blending technique on his head to depict his soft personality and rough strokes on his body to embody his wildness.

Serinity
I got the inspiration to draw this painting from a breathtaking scene I saw during a visit to my aunt’s farm. The scene left a lasting impression on me as the glittering water surface with snowy white geese moving around is not something I can see in my urban life.

Piggy's happiness
This is a portrait of my old buddy—Piggy. My mom and I adopted her since she was a hand-size tiny fluffy ball. As I love her wholeheartedly, I cried my eyes out when I found out my mom had given her away to my aunt. I thought I would never be able to move on until I saw her running around gleefully in my aunt’s garden. As I realized that love should be liberating, not possessive. This painting was later brought to life not as a representation of the pain but a reminder of our shared joyful memories. To quote Dr. Seuss: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

Composure
This is a portrait of one of my aunt’s geese. It portrayed the moment when it started to rain heavily and the gaggle of geese ran in panic to find shelter. Bizarrely enough, this dude was impressively calm. It was unusual for me to see such calmness in an animal famous for its bad composure. Therefore, the dude’s “Immutable Mind Amongst the Ever-Mutable Life” attitude really got me deeply admired.

Untitled
I drew this sketch using a reference photo on Pinterest. I was mesmerized by the girl’s delicate beauty under the shimmering sunlight.

Fate
There are two representations of good luck in this painting: the shooting stars and the frog (Yes, it is!). The frog, knowing that he is lucky, shows an indifferent facial expression and passively waits for his luck—the shooting stars—to come. Yet, the future remains uncertain as to whether these spatial rocks will bring him luck or crash into him.

Cool head - Warm heart
The man in this painting is looking at his uncertain future. He knows that his decisions can change his future so he needs to think thoroughly. By using two contrasting colors: blue for a cold head and red for a warm heart, I wanted to highlight how crucial the balance between reason and passion is in the decision-making process.

Visitors of my mom's garden
My mother has a small garden on the balcony. However, she felt sad because there were no birds visiting it. So I drew her some.

Sunrise
This is a view from the forest behind my secondary school’s backyard. It was a foggy day when I arrived at school early and had the opportunity to watch the sunrise in this forest. The scene was so mystical and serene that I felt the urge to capture it in my painting.

Friendship
A sweet friendship of mine with one being an introvert and the other an extrovert.

Heat
On a blistering hot summer day, I imagined how cool it would be to lie on a bed filled with water. My wandering mind then came up with an idea: “Why don’t we wear water all the time so the boiling hot weather would no longer bother us?”. The crazy idea was eventually turned into one of my favourite artworks until now.

Inner world
This painting was inspired by the word kotoba (言葉). In Japanese, kotoba (言葉) means “word”. This kanji consists of two other kanjis which are 言 (act of saying) and 葉 (leaf). The girl in the painting, however, keeps the words she wants to say inside instead of saying them out loud. The leaves and branches (which represent her words) grow so thickly that they sink the girl into her own inner world, making her completely separated from the outside world.

Original
When we first came to life, we were the same: as pure as the white color. It’s our experiences that will later make each of us become unique in this universe.

Youth
I drew this picture after my secondary school graduation. I remembered the joyful moments with my endearing former classmates.

Faded
I usually feel so fragile that it seems like I can vanish into the void anytime.

Guilty
I felt terribly guilty and uncomfortable when I couldn’t do anything to help a bullied student in my secondary school.

Signature
My friends noticed that I only use this peace hand sign for photo poses. Maybe it’s my signature.

Dream
When I was a child, I used to dream of becoming a princess with a big floral crown and a dazzling smile.

Aglaonema
This painting was inspired by the hit film Léon. In this movie, the protagonists treasure the Aglaonema a lot and carry this plant with them everywhere in the film.

Warmth

Untitled
Every beauty is fragile and vulnerable.

Untitled
One time I challenged myself to draw with only two colors: red and brown.

Hermione's Portrait
My fanart portrait for Hermione Granger from Harry Potter. Her gentleness and intelligence earned my profound admiration.

Son Tung M-TP's Portrait
A portrait of Son Tung M-TP in his Lac Troi MV’s poster.

Mess
I really felt overwhelmed with grief and messy thoughts.
